Proverbs 31 Woman, But Make It ADHD
Personally, I was never a huge fan of the obsession with the Proverbs 31 woman. For one, we don’t even know her name. For two, the passage is written by a mother to her son about the kind of woman he should look for—yet, according to the Bible, this woman was never even married to him!
But the biggest issue for me is the pressure that comes with this ideal. This Proverbs 31 woman is often held up as the standard for women—someone who seems to have it all together. She’s perfect, organized, and always on top of everything. And let’s be real, for a lot of women, especially those of us with ADHD, that kind of perfectionism can feel suffocating. So, as someone who is far from perfect and happens to live with ADHD, I thought, why not reimagine her for us?
Here’s my version of the Proverbs 31 woman—one with ADHD, who embraces the beautiful chaos of life, celebrates her imperfections, and still brings value to the world. Share this with your ADHD friends, because we’re all perfect in our own imperfect ways.
The Proverbs 31 Woman with ADHD
Who can find a woman of boundless energy and ideas? She is worth more than rubies, though she may forget where she put things.
Her family trusts her, for she loves fiercely, even if she sometimes runs late.
She seeks out inspiration and dives headfirst into her passions, working with joy when her heart is captured.
She rises early—(just kidding)—she’s a night owl who hates mornings.
Her home may not always be tidy, but it is filled with laughter, color, and life.
She considers a project and pursues it with enthusiasm, even if she doesn’t always finish.
Her creativity overflows—she paints, writes, builds, and dreams in ways that inspire others to see the world differently.
She opens her heart to the forgotten, the overlooked, and the broken, for she knows what it feels like to be misunderstood.
Soft and comfortable fabrics are her clothing, chosen with care because they soothe her spirit. Strength and determination are woven into her being, unseen but undeniable.
She speaks with honesty and humor, and her words lift the spirits of those around her.
She is tries to be kind to herself, forgiving her missteps and finding beauty in the mess.
Her phone reminders and sticky notes may fail her, but her loved ones know she always holds them close in her heart.
When she laughs, it is with her whole being, and her joy is contagious.
Those she loves rise and call her blessed, for she teaches them that perfection is not the goal—courage and grace are.
Charm is fleeting, and organization may be a struggle, but a woman who walks in God is to be praised.
Let her be celebrated for the chaos she tames, the joy she brings, and the brilliance she shares with the world.
